- <p><strong>the first</strong>, a gold box by Les Frères Toussaint, Hanau, circa 1795<em>, </em>of straightened purse form, the lid decorated with an elliptical panel of concentrig engine-turning below chased acorn branches to top corners, matching engine-turned sides and base,<em> Hanau marks including maker's mark;</em></p><p><strong>the second</strong>, a two-coloured gold and enamel example by Gebrüder Toussaint, Hanau, circa 1810, rectangular, the smaller engine-turned lid with a bow-shaped thumbpiece, the box decorated with blue enamel scrollwork borders on a <em>sablé</em> ground, the interior of the lid later engraved: <em>Leopold II Großherzog von Toscana 1765-1790, </em>the interior of the base engraved inscribed <em>Alice, Rome, 1929-1933</em>, <em>maker's</em> <em>mark between Hanau shield mark, lion mark and rosette; </em></p><p><strong>the third</strong>, a gold and enamel snuff box by Müller, Bury & Jünger, Hanau, circa 1815 and later, rectangular, the later lid centred with an oval plaque in rose gold, on an engine-turned ground, within dark blue enamel frame and foliate borders, the sides and base with wavy engine-turning within dark blue <em>taille d'épargne</em> enamel griffin and scrollwork borders, <em>maker's mark MB&I in an oval, rosette mark, further struck 14k for 14ct gold, </em></p><p><br></p><p>the largest 9.1 cm; 3 ⅝ in. wide</p>
