- Description
- For more than half a century, Hyde Park Antiques has been one of the leading sources both in New York and internationally for important English furniture from the William and Mary, Georgian and Regency eras. Their historic nineteenth-century gallery on Broadway just south of Union Square has long been a treasure trove for designers, collectors and curators seeking antiques that are both museum-quality level and intended to be lived with, and visitors have long been warmly received by founder Benard Karr, later joined by his daughter Rachel, who enthusiastically share their passion and knowledge with clients. After sixty years, the Karrs have decided to close their gallery, and Sotheby’s is honored to offer a selection of over two hundred lots from their distinguished inventory.Highlights include an important pair of rococo pier glasses by the John Linnell, George III commodes by John Cobb, Christopher Fuhrlohg and William Moore of Dublin along with a rare pair of commodes in Chinese lacquer, and exceptional works from the Regency period, among them a rare and magnificent drum table and bookstand formerly in the Duke of Leeds collection at Hornby Castle, a pair of English Boulle Regency Tables, and a side cabinet and tables by George Bullock. Hyde Park has always embraced the philosophy that antiques should be lived with and be accessible, and to that aim all lots are offered without reserve, providing an exceptional opportunity for seasoned and new collectors to acquire beautiful works to embellish their interiors and enter the next chapter of their history. For assistance with bidding and registration, please contact:+1 212 606 7000enquiries@sothebys.comFor all enquiries please contact:Dennis HarringtonHead of European Furniture+1 212 894 1195dennis.harrington@sothebys.comCameron Di LeoCataloguerEnglish Furniture+44 20 7293 6103cameron.dileo@sothebys.comRichard HirdVice PresidentInternational Specialist, EuropeanCeramicsHead of Sale, Classic Design,New York+1 212 894 1442richard.hird@sothebys.comJustin CheungVice PresidentSales Director, Specialist, Chinese Export Art+1 212 606 7332justin.cheung@sothebys.comJaden KatzCataloguer19th Century Continental Pictures+1 212 894 1605jaden.katz@sothebys.comEmma WoodberryCataloguerOld Master Paintings+ 1 212 894 1775emma.woodberry@sothebys.comJennifer DeCataProject Manager, Single Owner Sales+1 212 894 1565jennifer.decata@sothebys.comSamantha GoodaleSenior Pre-Sale CoordinatorDecorative Arts+1 212 894 1009Samantha.Goodale@sothebys.comMadison Jane WilliamsDivision AssistantDecorative Arts+1 212 894 1808madisonjane.williams@sothebys.com
